AIR JET SIEVE
Determination of the particle size of powder-form substances by a rotating stream of compressed air with the simultaneous application of a partial vacuum. Therefore the
sample material is blown through the specified sieve. The residue which remains on the sieve is determined by weighing.

Particle size analysis (10 – 5000 µm) of well flowable raw materials and products.Unsuitable for hydroscopic or sticky materials.

- Stainless steel test sieves with mesh, 200 mm diameter, with different mesh sizes (10 – 5000 µm).

PROCEDURE
Following the standard procedure of determination of the particle size partition of a sample the given (IRDS) amount is poured onto the finest sieve (also given) and
sieved according to the mentioned sieving time and the partial vacuum.In case of initial sticking to the cover plate it is possible to beat slightly to the knob of
the cover plate with the provided plastic hammer every 10 seconds.After the sieving time the sieve with the sample leftover is weighed back. The difference of the sample weight (vs. tare of the sieve) corresponds to the sieving residue at the used mesh size.Rerun the procedure with the sample leftover with the next coarse mesh size.

% sieve residue (used mesh size) =sieve residue (g) X100/sample weight
REMARKS
Sample weight, sieves, sieving time and partial vacuum depend on the samples and have to be adapted and defined exactly for each sample.For sievings without special characteristics these definition may base on the generally admitted standard values
